What is English and Coffee?
In 2018, teams from our church traveled to 8 different mega-cities, offering free English tutoring through materials based on the book of Luke. Friendships were made and lives were impacted for eternity.
In 2019 our theme was, "I LOVE LA", so we brought the same program to Shepherd and named it, "English and Coffee"! We saw a huge response of immigrants, refugees and International Students who came to Shepherd to improve their English!
In 2020 and in this year, we are continuing "English and Coffee" and we're looking for volunteers like YOU to help our new friends practice their English, through simple one-on-one conversations.
Training is required for anyone interested in Tutoring.
Upon registering, we will send you a training video.
*Registration link: Click the blue register button at the top of this page to sign up for the training. The Zoom link will be included in a confirmation email and later in a reminder email.
What is required of you to become a tutor?
You don't have to be a professional English teacher by any means! All that is required of you is to:
- Be able to speak and read English
- Be willing to share personal experience with God
- Commit to at least one hour per week, biweekly, or as a "substitute"
English and Coffee meets on Thursday evenings starting May 6th, 2021.

Due to Covid-19, English and Coffee is currently meeting virtually through Zoom.
Normally, we will meet during the above times at Pillars Cafe located on the Shepherd Church campus.
